This is a great resource that will teach you how to make your own yeast and more!

It has been an incredible experience making my own yeast. It's quite easy, it just takes patience. I found it's kind of like taking care of a pet. You must feed it everyday. Unfortunately this pet won't cuddle up on your lap. But you will make incredible bread and be more self sufficient as a result of it. There are many videos and articles on how to make yeast from raisins. You can make yeast from many other things. After much research I learned that raisins was the easiest way to go. So that's all I've tried so far.
